The Appetizer: Sponsors
We're sponsored by the Office of Innovation at Holland & Hart.
Our second sponsor, the Law Office of Hugh Howerton, on the constitutional rights of store owners to pass along swipe charges.
Our third sponsor asks: Are you a law student? If so, sign up for or SpacedRepetition.com. This is a tool to help law students & bar preppers learn more. Named one of the world's Top 20 Legal IT Innovations by ALM.
The Main Course: 5 Things You Should Know this Week
Training Practice Ready Lawyers: a terrific piece on Suffolk Law's various efforts to train students in legal innovation and technology.
A Place for the Legal Tech Startup Community: I've learned a lot by becoming a member of LegalTech Startup Focus, and I recommend others interested in this space join, too. Nice people, thoughtful content, and the price is right (free).
Best Legal Tech Blogs: Clocktimizer reviews several of them, giving the pros and cons of each.
RobotFight: at LegalWeek, ROSS Intelligence unveiled EVA, a case analysis tool similar to CaseText's CARA. What ensued was an impromptu faceoff to see which worked best, livestreamed by Bob Ambrogi. Winners and losers aside (you decide!), it's good to see legal tech tools being put to the test (a dream project of mine: a Consumer Reports for legal tech tools).
Legal Ops and AI adoption: Artificial Lawyer's piece on how CLOC members can drive the use of legal AI.
A Lagniappe
Enchanted Objects: I'm enjoying David Rose's book about designing everyday tech tools that are both useful and enjoyable. To get a taste, check out his personal site for some cool examples of his work.
